I’ve been reading the kindle off an on the last couple days. I already got through the first book of “Tale of Two Cities” before I realized how amazingly boring it was, and switched to Call of Cthulu, which is MUCH more interesting. ![]()
So last night I’m surfing through channels, and I run across the show “Crowned,” which is a reality show beauty pageant for mother/daughter teams. Many of them have competed in professional beauty pageants, and many of them have not. I would have just clicked right through, had it not been for several reasons:
1) They all have to live in the same house, in BUNKS, in shared rooms.
2) The girls have the nastiest, cattiest attitudes toward each other “Oh, Team doesn’t have a chance in hell, because they’re just not pretty like us”
3) The first challenge was for each team to come up with an outfit, a name, and some introduction for themselves to give a good first impression to the judges:
4) Of which, Carson from Queer Eye is one, and definitely does NOT filter his thoughts, which are deliciously wicked.
5) One team thought it was smart to dub themselves “Silent But Deadly.” That alone had me giggling for 10 mins nonstop, especially since that’s what was written on their sashes.
6) The FINALE. OMFG. They have two teams as the bottom scoring contestants (the groups who were the most cocky and “beautiful” but with no personality). They call out the one team to pick up the jewel-encrusted scisssors…and a couple secs later tell them to CUT THE SASHES OFF THE OTHER TEAM. Holy crap, how evil!
Needless to say, I’ve seen all I’m really interested in, but that hour was just incredibly campy, trashy, and unintentionally hilarious. s
I was surfing through the channels and came across MTV Cribs with 50 Cent.
The guy has a mansion with SIX KITCHENS. The place is so huge, it has its own green screen room, nightclub (that can fit 2,000 people), hell, he has one closet just for HATS.
And I’m wondering how the hell these rap stars have the kind of money to be spending on absurdly overindulgent pads like these…but then I came across a news article that reported 50 Cent made $400 million on the sale of his investment in Vitamin Water to Coca-Cola.
I gotta hand it to him, he has a brilliant financial manager. He doesn’t really have to do much of anything, ever.
Having said that, I think it’s ridiculous to own a home that has six kitchens in it (one of which he opened up the oven parts were still in their boxes…the kitchen had never been used). :-/
What’s funny is, his net worth pre-Vitamin Water, was $40mil. Talk about a huge boost in his income…
Alan Moore, Art Spiegelman and Dan Clowes guest-starring in last night’s Simpsons? OK Go Spoof and Pet Shop Boys??
I’m in geek heaven.
I had another issue with Comcast today…they decided I didn’t want Showtime anymore and removed it from my package. Retards…
Anyway, it got me to thinking…why, exactly, do I have Showtime or HBO anymore? I used to have HBO because of all the great programming: Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Sex and the City, some of the Real Sex programming, and now…nothing? There’s not one show that appeals to me on HBO right now.
As for Showtime, the only reason I’m keeping that one around is because of my very favorite show on TV, Dexter. And even that I can just download off the intarwebs. I think tomorrow I’m going to probably cancel all my “premium content” channels…for that matter, I think I’m gonna call DirecTV tomorrow and give Comcrap the boot. I’ve never had so many bad experiences from a service before. Probably time to unleash myself under their oppressive, hate-their-customers, attitude.
So all this got me thinking as to what shows I’m enjoying this season. Well, as just posted about Bionic Woman, I tried to watch the first episode and it was just painful. Chuck seemed pretty ridiculously stupid too. The only new show this season I’m truly enjoying is Reaper. All the other new programs just seem pretty crappy.
So what am I watching this year?
Other than that, I can’t say I’m too interested in anything else on the boob tube these days. Which I guess is a good thing, seeing as how I watch more TV these days than I ever did pre-Tivo. ![]()
The Fall premiere episode of Family Guy will be an hour episode reenacting Star Wars: A New Hope, and jediinsider.com has the first 10 mins up on youtube:
